Ijebu Ode-born popular socialite, Prince Bode Osinusi, who celebrated
his 80th birthday last weekend, died Thursday morning after a brief
illness.The deceased was from one of the ruling houses in
Ijebu Ode, Fidipote Royal family, which his brother, Otunba (Barr.)
Wahab Osinusi, is the head.
Our correspondent gathered from a family source that the deceased complained of minor fever and was rushed to a hospital where he died early yesterday.
He was until his death the Chairman, Royal Travels Agency, located in Yaba, Lagos State, western Nigeria. It was gathered that his corpsewill be brought to Ijebu Ode and will be buried accordng to Islamic rites today.The deceased, according to information, never received any chieftaincy title, despite his wealth, affluence and popularity. He did not also belong to any age grade such as Regberegbe, the social club of many Ijebu sons and daughters both at home and the diaspora.
He was married to Alhaja (Princess) Afusat Osinusi, who according to reliable sources, had no child for the deceased.
Commenting on his death, the former President of ICAN, Otunba Lateef Owoyemi, who was a very close friend of the deceased, expressed shock over the news of his death, saying they were very good friends and age mates.
According to him, “I got the information and it was a big shock to me. We were age mates but never participated in any age grade group. He was a very popular socalite and his death pains me so much.
“I commiserate with the family, his wife and children. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” he prayed.
At the time of filing this report, family members and friends were at his Odo Egbo residence in Ijebu Ode putting final touches to the final resting place for the deceased.
The corpse, according to one of the elders in the family who pleaded that his name should not be mentioned, will leave Lagos after Jumat for Ijebu Ode where he will be buried.
